The Walther PP (Polizei Pistole) was introduced
in Germany in 1929 as a sidearm for the German police. The smaller PPK was
banned for importation into the U.S. by the Gun Control Act of 1968. An even
shorter model (the PPK [Kurz]) was introduced later to make the gun more
concealable. Originally, the PP and PPK were .32 ACP (7.65mm) caliber, but the
cartridge was later increased to the .380 ACP (9mm Kurz). The PPK/S is chosen by
many organizations, including the British secret security, as a powerful and
reliable sidearm.
